Every autumn, thousands of students from Bangladesh open their laptops, stare at the GOV.UK website, and wonder where to even begin. A CAS number here, a bank statement there, a TB test somewhere in Gulshan-2 — the UK student visa can feel like a puzzle with fifty pieces. The good news: the UK student visa requirements for Bangladeshi students in 2027 follow a clear, predictable checklist, and once you understand it, the puzzle becomes a plan.
To get a UK Student visa from Bangladesh you need a CAS from a licensed university, proof of funds held for 28 consecutive days (£1,529/month for London, £1,171/month elsewhere, up to 9 months), a valid passport, an approved English test result, a TB test certificate from an IOM clinic, the £558 fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
What documents do you need for a UK student visa in 2027?
The core UK student visa requirements are the same for every Bangladeshi applicant: a CAS, proof of money, a passport, an English qualification, and a TB certificate. Everything else builds on those five pillars.
- Valid passport (with at least one blank page)
- CAS — Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies — from your university
- Bank statements or approved loan/scholarship letters covering tuition + living costs, held 28 consecutive days
- Academic certificates and transcripts used to obtain your CAS
- Approved English test (e.g. IELTS for UKVI) or university-assessed equivalent
- TB test certificate from a UKVI-approved IOM clinic in Bangladesh
- ATAS certificate — only for certain sensitive science/engineering postgraduate courses
- If sponsored in the last 12 months: written consent from your sponsor
Students under 18 also need parental consent papers, and some applicants are asked for additional documents at the credibility-interview stage — more on that below.
How much money do you need to show?
You must show living costs for up to 9 months on top of any unpaid tuition: £1,529 per month if your course is in London, £1,171 per month outside London. That means up to £13,761 (roughly ৳22–23 lakh) for London or £10,539 (roughly ৳17–18 lakh) elsewhere, plus your outstanding first-year tuition.
The full amount must sit in an acceptable account for 28 consecutive days, and the statement's end date must fall within 31 days of your application date. If the balance dips below the threshold for even one day, the clock restarts — and an application filed anyway is refused on maintenance grounds.
Money can be in your name or a parent's (with a consent letter and proof of relationship). At Eduvisa we see more refusals from badly-timed bank statements than from any other single cause — it is the least glamorous document and the most dangerous one.
What is a CAS and when do you get it?
A CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) is an electronic reference number your university issues after you accept an unconditional offer and usually pay a deposit. You cannot apply for the visa without it, and you can apply no earlier than 6 months before your course starts.
For the September 2027 main intake, most universities issue CAS between May and August 2027. Working backwards: offer in hand by spring, deposit paid by early summer, funds parked 28 days before you apply. Miss the window and the January 2028 intake at many universities becomes your fallback — a delay, not a dead end.

Do Bangladeshi students need a TB test and IELTS?
Yes on tuberculosis screening: Bangladesh is on the UK's TB-test list, so you need a certificate from a UKVI-approved IOM clinic — in Dhaka (Gulshan-2) or Sylhet — before applying. The certificate is normally valid for 6 months, so do not take it too early.
English is more flexible. Degree-level courses generally require CEFR B2-level English, most commonly shown with IELTS for UKVI, but many universities can assess your English themselves — some accept strong HSC/degree results or an interview instead. Confirm with your university before booking any test; it can save both money and weeks of waiting.
How and when should you apply?
The application itself is online, with biometrics at VFS Global in Bangladesh, and most Student visa decisions arrive in around 3 weeks. Working backwards from a September 2027 start:
- Now – late 2026: shortlist universities, prepare IELTS if needed, apply with SOP and references.
- Early 2027: receive offers; choose one; plan finances and start parking funds.
- May–July 2027: accept offer, pay deposit, receive CAS; book TB test.
- June–August 2027: complete the 28-day holding period; gather documents.
- July–August 2027: apply online, pay £558 + IHS (£776/year), give biometrics at VFS.
- August–September 2027: decision arrives as an eVisa; book flights and housing.
Missed September? The January intake runs on the same checklist with a compressed timeline — CAS around October–November 2027.
What mistakes cause UK student visa refusals?
Four failures dominate: broken 28-day bank statements, weak or memorised credibility-interview answers, mismatched documents (names, dates, sponsors), and applying with an expired TB certificate. Bangladeshi applicants face above-average scrutiny, and many are called to a credibility interview where you must explain — in your own words — why this course, this university, this country.
Never round up a bank balance "temporarily", never submit a statement whose end date is older than 31 days, and never recite a memorised interview script. A refusal sits on your immigration record and makes the next attempt harder.
We covered the full list in our refusal guide — linked below — including how the genuine-student requirement is assessed.
What has changed for 2027?
Three shifts matter for 2027 applicants. First, the UK is now fully digital: you receive an eVisa linked to your passport instead of a sticker or BRP card. Second, the Graduate Route after your studies is 18 months for applications made on or after 1 January 2027 (3 years for PhD graduates). Third, dependants remain limited to postgraduate research students and government-scholarship holders — undergraduate and most taught master's students cannot bring family.
What will the whole application cost?
| Item | Amount | Applies to you? |
|---|---|---|
| Visa application fee | £558 (≈ ৳92,000) | Everyone |
| Immigration Health Surcharge | £776 per year (≈ ৳1.3 lakh) | Everyone |
| Living funds — London | £1,529/month, up to 9 months | London courses |
| Living funds — outside London | £1,171/month, up to 9 months | Other cities |
| TB test (IOM clinic) | Varies — confirm with IOM Dhaka | All Bangladeshi applicants |
| ATAS certificate | Free, but takes weeks | Only sensitive PG subjects |
How does Eduvisa help you get it right the first time?
What we see at Eduvisa, week after week, is that refusals rarely come from weak students — they come from weak files. A brilliant applicant with a 27-day bank statement is refused; an average student with a clean, consistent, well-timed file walks through. Our team checks every document against the current GOV.UK requirements, rehearses the credibility interview with you, and — unlike most consultancies — stays with you after you land: airport pickup guidance, housing, SIM, bank account, and that first confusing week in a new country.
