Families visiting children studying in London, cricket fans heading to Lord's, business owners at trade fairs — the UK is one of the most visited countries for Bangladeshis. If you search "UK visit visa from Bangladesh cost", many pages still show the old £127 fee. Since 8 April 2026 the UK visit visa fee is £135, and the rest of the process rewards careful paperwork more than anything else.
Bangladeshis need a Standard Visitor visa, applied for online on GOV.UK and completed with biometrics at the VFS centre in Dhaka. It costs £135 for up to 6 months (from 8 April 2026). Long-term visit visas cost £506 (2 years), £903 (5 years) and £1,128 (10 years). You can apply up to three months before travel.

What does the UK visit visa cost in 2027?
The Home Office raised visit visa fees on 8 April 2026 and left them unchanged in the 8 October 2026 fee update. These are the official amounts:
| Visa | Fee | Stay |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Visitor | £135 | 6 months |
| Medical visitor | £234 | 11 months |
| Academic visitor | £234 | 12 months |
| Long-term, 2 years | £506 | 6 months per visit |
| Long-term, 5 years | £903 | 6 months per visit |
| Long-term, 10 years | £1,128 | 6 months per visit |
You pay online in pounds. VFS Global's optional services (priority, courier, document scanning) are extra. A long-term visa does not let you stay longer per visit; it saves you repeat applications if you travel often.
What does the UK caseworker want to see?
The visitor rules ask whether you are a genuine visitor who will leave at the end of the visit, can pay for the trip and will not work or live in the UK through frequent visits. Your documents should prove each point:
- Purpose: a clear reason — tourism itinerary, graduation ceremony invitation, business meeting letter or family visit invitation with the host's status papers.
- Funds: six months of bank statements, with salary or business income visible, plus tax returns. Large unexplained deposits weaken a file.
- Ties: employment letter with approved leave, business documents, property papers, family in Bangladesh.
- History: previous visas and travel. Disclose every previous refusal honestly — non-disclosure can lead to a ban.

- Valid passport and all old passports
- Six months' bank statements and solvency certificate
- Salary slips or business papers and tax returns
- Employer leave letter or business ownership proof
- Invitation letter and host's UK status (if visiting family)
- Travel plan with dates and accommodation

Can a UK visit visa lead to study or work?
A Standard Visitor can study a course of up to six months and attend meetings or conferences, but cannot do paid work or switch to a work visa from inside the UK. Students planning a degree need the Student visa instead — see our UK student guides. A clean UK visit, though, strengthens future applications for any country.
- Apply only on official portals or through officially listed agents. Every visa page linked in this guide is a government or embassy page. If a site charges far above the official fee, close it.
- Keep names identical everywhere. Passport, visa form, air ticket and hotel booking must carry the same spelling, including middle names. A one-letter difference can stop you at check-in.
- Buy travel insurance. A medical emergency abroad can cost more than the whole trip. Several Bangladeshi insurers sell short-trip policies for a few thousand Taka.
- Save copies offline. Keep photos of your passport, visa, tickets and bookings on your phone and in email, plus one printed set separate from the originals.
- Return on time. A clean entry and exit record is the most valuable thing you bring home. It is what UK, Schengen, Japanese and other officers look at when you apply next time.
How should you carry money from Bangladesh?
Short answer: endorse your dollars on your passport before you fly, carry a mix of clean US$ notes and an international card, and change only what you need.
- Dollar endorsement: buy foreign currency from a bank or licensed money changer and have it endorsed against your passport under your annual travel quota, which Bangladesh Bank sets. Keep the encashment certificate with your passport.
- International card: a dual-currency debit or credit card from a Bangladeshi bank is the safest way to pay hotels and withdraw pounds. Ask your bank to enable it for international use and note its per-transaction and daily limits.
- Clean notes: new, untorn US$ notes (series 2013 or later where possible) get the best rate and are accepted everywhere; old or marked notes are often refused.
- Exchange smartly: change a small amount at the airport for transport, then use city money changers or ATMs. Avoid changing Taka abroad — it is rarely accepted outside Bangladesh.
- Keep records: card slips and the endorsement receipt make your travel history clean when you later apply for UK, Schengen or study visas.
Why get one-to-one help instead of doing it yourself?
Because one person who knows the rules checks your whole plan before you pay for anything. Most trips that go wrong do so for small reasons: a passport that expires too soon, a booking that does not match the visa form, a fee paid on an unofficial site, or a return date that clashes with an exam or job. Doing it alone is possible — the official links on this page are all you need — but a second pair of experienced eyes makes the process clearer, quicker and far less likely to go wrong.
